• Summer Program: During the summer vacation chidren develop projects using a different predetermined topic every week.
• Theatre and Puppets Workshop: Specialists, volunteers and assistants offer theatre and puppet workshops.
• "Pinta Pinta": Art Workshop held in the ambulatory area of INEN. Volunteer artists teach children art while they wait for their chemotherapy. The paintings decorate the hospital corridors and are used by our fundraising committe to elaborate the products for our Christmas Campaign. These paintings participate each year in "Making a Mark", an art contest held in the Texas Children Cancer Hospital of Houston, having received several prizes.
• Knitting and Handicrafts workshop for parents: Knitting material is distributed to the moms in the different classrooms with the purpose of making their long hours at the hospital more bearable.
• Reading and Video Material for children and parents: Aprendo Contigo provides parents and children of Inen and San Juan during their long waiting hours entertainment and informative material.
• Pipo: Pipo is the symbol of Aprendo Contigo.Thanks to Vainsa ( a private company) every child receives a Pipo stuffed doll when he is hospitalized. Pipo comes with a welcome letter to the child explaining him that he will be his friend from now on when he comes for treatment.
• Birthday Celebrations: We celebrate the children birthdays by singing them Happy Birthday with baloons and giving them a little present.
• Shows: In our three sites we celebrate special occasions like Patriotic Day, Spring Day, Mother´s day, Science Fair, etc with shows organized by the children.
• Field Trips: The program organizes field trips in Lima for the chidren of San Jan de Dios.
• "Las Dunas Resort " weekend trip: Since 2003 every year Las Dunas Resort of Ica invites 20 children patients of INEN to spend a weekend in their Resort enjoying all the facilities like regular guests. Children go with 4 nurses and 4 Educational Assistants.. Aprendo Contigo provides each child with a backpack with everything they need for their stay: bathing suite, shorts, sportswear, sneakers,etc. This is accomplished with the generous collaboration of private donors.
