At this location, we worked mainly with children during their outpatient therapies, since the
number of hospitalized children has significantly decreased in recent years. The school levels
we worked with were Early Stimulation, Initial, and Lower and Upper Primary, emphasizing
basic skills in the school curriculum: Logical-mathematical; Integral Communication; Science
and Environment; and Personal-Social.
Our Hospital Classrooms program provided emotional and social support to children and
parents through play therapy, lectures, and workshops within the relevant educational areas.
Thanks to the support from the Themis group of the PUCP and from other institutions and committed professionals, parents received informational lectures on various topics of interest to them.
During these seven years, we also had support from various educational institutions, the most significant of which was the participation of students from the Monterrico Pedagogical Institute
who did summer internships at this hospital location under Aprendo Contigo s supervision.
It was a great pleasure for Aprendo Contigo to work with the children and parents in the San
Juan de Dios classroom. Throughout these years, we, the Teacher Aides and our students,
have benefited and have obtained the experience and testimonies that confirm once again that
"we made the time of waiting... a time of hope."
